For many companies we speak with, the extent of their email marketing consists of a newsletter or outbound campaign. But mixing up the types of emails your company sends is a great way to re-engage subscribers and increase open rates and click-through rates (CTR).

Send Valuable Content and Resources
Content creation needs to be a part of every company’s telecom marketing strategy. This could include blogs, white papers, infographics, and more. It shows your website viewers that you’re a trusted source for valuable information – and it makes search engines happy too. Creating great content takes time and money, so it makes sense to leverage it in your email marketing to. This helps drive traffic back to your website while engaging with email subscribers.
Content roundups do just that – roundup the content you have created over a specific period of time and deliver it to subscribers in one email blast. The roundup can be broken up however you choose, but the most common ways are monthly, quarterly, or annually. Typically, roundups include content such as blogs, infographics, or downloads created in the time period of your choice.

Try featuring lesser known holidays related to your company. There is less competition around them and they are sure to get your subscriber’s attention.
For example, Data Privacy Day on January 28th, or World Backup Day on March 31st make for great excuses to remind your subscribers about data privacy regulations and cloud backup while tying both back to your business.
Company milestones are a fun way to show your company’s personality and – let’s face it – it’s nice to brag sometimes too! Some email ideas for company milestones are:
- Employee anniversaries
- Moving into a new office
- Company or employee awards
- Attendance at a conference or event
Sharing this kind of information with subscribers helps humanize your company and get subscribers to feel like they are part of the successes you tell them about.
Many companies we speak to assume that every email needs to be a fully designed HTML email, but it’s not always necessary. HTML emails are great for newsletters, but plain-text emails can work just as well too.
The trend for plain-text emails has grown a lot in recent years because they are more personal and a lot less likely to get stuck in spam filters. Text-based emails have a much more personal feel which helps subscribers not feel like just another number.
If your company wants to maintain some design to marketing emails, try setting up a basic template that includes your logo at the top.
Although you want to make sure to consistently be in subscriber’s inboxes, it’s worth mentioning that you shouldn’t send an email just for the sake of sending an email. Every email should have a purpose and goal such as filling out a form, signing up for a webinar, or watching a video.
